The Way Through Complacency
This past year has been a tiring season, hasn't it? It's like every week has its own existential crisis that demands our attention. When we finally make it home from work or finish out our day, we want nothing more than to get home, order a pizza, and veg out watching Netflix.
Life is draining. There's really no easy way around that. But the danger of the "Netflix and veg" mentality is that we can allow complacency to take the steering wheel...and when our complacency turns on the cruise control of life, it's all too easy for our relationships, spiritual health, and connection with God to take a back seat. When complacency rules, our callings and purposes begin to look like an inconvenient impossibility, and we become satisfied with settling for less than God's best for our life.
But, Jesus didn't sacrifice everything so that we can settle for the selfish “comfort culture” of this world. You and I are children of the Creator of the universe, and we have access to the purest and most life-giving source in all existence. But we have to choose to move from complacency into purpose.
When we prioritize intentional time for devotion, worship, prayer, and relationship with God, we can gain the clarity and connection necessary to rediscover our God-given purposes. When we reject complacency and embrace God's plan for our lives, we can finally align with the way that He has laid out for us.
“I know what I’m doing. I have it all planned out—plans to take care of you, not abandon you, plans to give you the future you hope for. “ Jeremiah 29:11 (MSG)

Bible Reading for the Day:
Think and Act:
1. Where in your life have you allowed complacency to keep you from God's best for your life?
2. What is one way that you can invite God's purpose into your life today?
