Day 30

Sunday, April 4

The Way Through Impossibility

When my kids were small, there wasn’t anything that they thought I couldn’t fix. On one occasion, one of them had broken a toy beyond repair. It wasn’t just broken; it was obliterated with no chance of being fixed. When I told them it couldn’t be repaired, they argued adamantly with me that I could do it. Finally, after many words, they resigned themselves to the fact that Dad was right...and it wouldn’t be fixed. The look on their face as they walked away with the understanding that dad couldn’t do everything will always stick in my mind.

So often we walk away from God thinking there is no way He could fix what is broken in us. We are so convinced of that fact that we won’t even ask Him to help us. We have resigned ourselves to the outcome that we are broken beyond repair and that nothing can change it. But God!

You see, God made a way that not only fixes us but guarantees that repair. What we see as impossible, He sees not only as possible, but inevitable. He is not looking at the “here and now” but instead, He looks into eternity—an eternity that is secured for anyone who believes and follows Jesus. His death (and more importantly, His resurrection) eliminates impossibility and ensures eternal hope and life.

Bible Reading for the Day:

John 14:1-7

Think and Act:

1. What are some scriptures that you can lean on when things seem impossible and your future seems uncertain? Take some time to look some up of these verses and put them in prominent places that you can read them when you need to.

2. Who do you know that needs to hear the message of hope through impossibility? Make a choice to share your story with them so that they can also receive the guarantee of eternity.
