Day 4

Tuesday, March 9

The Way Through Laziness

You may remember learning about Newton’s first law: an object at rest stays at rest, and an object in motion stays in motion. Have you ever thought about how that law applies to people? Think of those who are driven, who accomplish goals and tasks, who frequently serve others. They are the ones in motion. Then, there are those who need a lot of motivation to do something—to accomplish a task, get away from the television or gaming system, and serve. They are the ones at rest.

Jesus shares a story about three men who were entrusted with their master’s wealth. Two of the men doubled what was given to them, but the third servant did nothing with what was given to him...and he was called a wicked, lazy servant.

Christ, who is our master, has commanded believers to go into all the world making disciples(Matthew 28:19-20). He has entrusted us with His greatest love: people! He has given each one of us gifts, talents, and time to share and show His love to the people of the world.

God has called us to be productive and not fall into a laziness lifestyle. If we are going to reach the lost, we must be an object in motion. We need to do the things that are productive in reaching those who do not know Christ. We need to pour into those who are new to the faith, as well as encourage and build each other up.

Bible Reading for the Day:

Matthew 25:14-30

Think and Act:

1.When you think about your day, how many hours are you productive?

2.Is there anything in your life that seems to pull you into a lifestyle of laziness? If so, what steps will you take to overcome the temptation of laziness?

3. How are you using what Christ has given to you to be productive in reaching the people He loves?
